As technology increases in the areas of audio & video equipment, so does the complexity of the cables that support these items. One of the most common things overlooked when looking for an hdmi cable to support your existing gear is the fact that the conductor size is a huge factor in supporting various resolutions, especially in relation to various lengths. To sum it up, wire size could ultimately be the difference of a picture on the screen vs no picture on the screen. In an effort to simplify things, we've put a chart together below as a general rule of thumb to follow using hdmi cables. These are simply our suggestions:
0ft-19ft..............................26-28awg conductor (supports 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p)
20ft-30ft............................24awg conductor (supports 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p)
40-50ft..............................24awg conductor (supports 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p)
In rare cases an hdmi booster may be required to achieve 1080p above 40ft with some manufactures cables, however test results have proven that our premium quality 24awg cable will indeed handle 1080p without a booster up to 50ft in most cases.
