The Crawler Swing-out Tire Carrier is the best carrier on the market period! It has legendary Crawler strength and has features that will complete any trail machine. For starters, it is constructed from 3/16" wall 2" X 4" and 2" X 2" tubing. It has a 2,000 lb. spindle with grease zerks to make maintenance a breeze. Surely you've seen tire carriers that use a bolt and bushing for a hinge. They rust and become stiff rendering them useless. Our carrier rides on 2 tapered bearings that allow it to move freely. It is held tightly closed with a massive 2,000 lb. draw latch. Other companies resort to "T" handles that thread into the bumper to hold their carriers closed. Give mother nature a few months to work on those threads and iron oxide will have its way with your latch. A tire carrier doesn't do you much good if you can't open it. Our latches are zinc coated, fully adjustable, and have a rubber coated handle that will give you years of worry free use. Have you ever stopped on the trail for repairs or lunch and had to get into the back of your rig. Do you always have the option of stopping on level ground? Who is going to hold your carrier open for you while you are trying to open your hatch? With our safety latch, that will become the envy of all of your friends, you don't have to worry about it! Our carrier has a secondary latch that won't allow the carrier to swing open until you release it. Once it is released, you can swing your carrier open 110 degrees where it latches in the open position. You can access your hatch without worry. If that isn't enough for you, how about a place for that Hi-lift jack you have strapped to your roof or thrown in the back. Each of our tire carriers come welded up with mounts for your Hi-lift. And don't worry about where you are going to put your CB antenna. There is a place for that too. You will also find a 2" hitch and a place for your safety chains. Don't forget, there is also a place to hold your spare tire up to a 38". There are 12 bolts holding this carrier to your Jeep. Your factory hitch only uses 8! Many companies use only the eight factory bolts used to mount the factory bumper. The factory bumper was strictly cosmetic. It was not meant to support any weight, neither is the body that it was mounted to. Our tire carriers utilize the bolt locations intended for mounting a hitch. A specially designed insert is placed inside the unibody frame rail and 4 supplied 1/2" grade 8 bolts give our carriers the added strength needed to support the weight of a tire carrier.
